The Menominee Indian School District has denied a resident’s public records request regarding over $7 million that was transferred from the district’s general fund to capital projects.

Legend Lake resident Gregg Malmstrom sent a letter to Menominee Indian School Board President David Miller on July 20 regarding the transfer of funds that took place during the 2024-25 school year. Malmstrom asked for four things:

A few Shawano County sheriff’s deputies will have a more powerful squad car next year.

The public safety committee agreed Oct. 7 to purchase five new vehicles in 2027. All will be Dodge Durangos, but three will have V6 engines and two will have V8 engines.

Lt. Jon Blaskowski, the department’s fleet manager, said the budget for replacing vehicles in 2027 is $215,000, with another $60,000 earmarked for equipment.

• Jessi D. Rockman, 45, pleaded guilty Oct. 6 to misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, resisting or obstructing an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The controlled substance charge was amended from a felony in a plea agreement. Judge Katherine Sloma withheld sentencing and placed her on two years of probation with conditions.

• Oliver Hubert Miotke, 51, Lakewood, pleaded guilty Oct. 5 to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. A related felony charge was dismissed but read into the record in a plea agreement. Judge Jay Conley withheld sentencing and placed him on 18 months of probation with conditions.
