Menominee County has a piece of land about 1½ acres in size that it wants to utilize, and it’s turning to residents to determine what will be the best use for the property.

Members of the boards governing the Shawano city and county housing authorities have opted not to merge together — at least not now.

Todd Buettner is planning to retire in the next several months as the executive director of the Shawano City Housing Authority, which led some at the Housing Authority of Shawano County to consider a merger of the two organizations.

The Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department (SMCHD) invites residents, partners and community stakeholders to participate in the 2026 Community Health Assessment meeting from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 17 at the College of Menominee Nation Cultural Learning Center.

The secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion covers multiple roles, including meeting the care concerns of anyone who walks in the door.

“The main point of my job is to serve the Lord — and His people — in any capacity needed,” said office manager Sheri Fuhrman.

Always wanting to work at a church, Fuhrman applied for and landed the secretarial position at St. John’s in December 2019.

For years, Bryan Gibson toed the line between his two passions of law enforcement and IT. Now, he uses those skills interchangeably on a regular basis for the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department.

Gibson recently transferred from the county’s IT department to the sheriff’s department to serve as the new evidence specialist. He replaces Ann Holcomb, who retired.

Shawano Area Matthew 25 is searching for its next executive director following the departure of Kendra Brusewitz, who accepted a new position with Safe Haven.

The Shawano nonprofit serves individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
