SAM25 Free Clinic names new manager

Shawano native Anna Etten has been named the new manager for the SAM25 Free Health Clinic.

Etten recently graduated summa cum laudefrom St. Norbert College with a bachelor of science degree in biology, concentrating in biomedical sciences, along with a minor in chemistry. She completed her degree in just three years while also graduating from the college’s honors program.

Nichols’ comeback ends up one run short

Nichols scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning of its Dairyland League baseball matchup with Hortonville, but ended up on the short end of a 10-9 score June 13.

The Stars improved to 6-1 in league play with a win over the Nitros June 13.

Nichols trailed 10-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning and came up with six runs.

Hortonville outhit the Nitros 14-8.

Little Falls, Leopolis get seven-inning BABA wins

Little Falls and Leopolis had no problems scoring in their latest Badger Amateur Baseball Association matchups with Shawano and Tigerton, respectively, June 14.

The Loggers picked up a 26-2 win over Shawano, while Leopolis handed Tigerton a 10-0 defeat.

IRA sprint cars featured at Shawano Speedway

IRA Sprint cars joined the lineup at the Shawano Speedway on June 13.

In the 20-lap 410 springs-winged feature race, it was Jake Blackhurst of Hanna City, Illinois, taking the checkered flag. He beat out Will Armitage of Athens, Illinois, and Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls.

Paul Nienhiser of Chapin, Illinois, won the first dash, and Blackhurst won the second dash.

Red Raiders shut out in sectional title game

The Pulaski varsity soccer team lost the June 13 neutral playoff match against Brookfield Central 3-0.

The game, played in Plymouth, was the Division 2 Sectional 2 championship match.

With the loss to the Lancers, the Red Raiders end the season at 11-6-5.
