Pella residents against solar farms, data centers

Many communities are concerned about either solar farms or data centers destroying their pristine country lifestyle.

In the Town of Pella, residents are worried about both of them at the same time. They packed Pella Town Hall for an information meeting May 12 — even resulting in some latecomers standing out in the rain with umbrellas so they could still hear the presentation about the threats that both provide.

Consultant addresses questions about courthouse plans

Building new for all of the county government needs at once would not be a solid financial proposal, and that’s the main reason behind building a new courthouse west of the existing one, according to the consultant overseeing the project.

Kurt Berner, of The Samuels Group, addressed that concern and more at the public property committee meeting May 7.

First round of courthouse bids to be let in August

Plans to build a new government center in Shawano County need approvals from more than city and county officials. The proposal for specific parts of the courthouse and sheriff’s department needs to align with Wisconsin Supreme Court and Department of Corrections guidelines.

Bonduel boys, girls win Lions Invite

Shawano’s boys and girls track teams finished last with 30 and 29 points, respectively, in West De Pere.

Tiller wins at the plate, on the mound for Tigerton

Danika Tiller and Renata Nordwig each had two hits, and Tiller had two RBIs in Tigerton’s 10-4 win over Marion.

Tiller, Emily Rich, Lillian Welch and Jaelyn Brady each scored twice.

Tiller pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, walking three and striking out 10.

Panthers, Hawks win on baseball diamond

Dom Triechl hit 1-for-3 with an RBI single that turned out to be the go-ahead score with two outs in the bottom of the sixth as Oconto Falls beat Luxemburg-Casco 2-1.

Landon Delfosse hit 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Pulaski soccer team beats Notre Dame

Pulaski 3, Notre Dame 1

Ruth Krause scored two goals; Leah Kapla assisted on one, and Leah Grygiel assisted on the other as Pulaski beat Notre Dame 3-1.

Sydney Kunstman scored unassisted in between Krause’s goals.

Goalkeeper Tatum Wentland had three saves in the win, improving the Red Raiders’ conference record to 3-1-1 and 6-5-2 for the season.

Hawks golfers take sixth at conference min-meet

Shawano golfers scored a 177 and placed sixth among seven teams at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne.

Scoring for the Hawks were Duane Gristeau-Blanche with 42, T.J. Smith with 43, Collin Dieck with 44 and Levi Anobong with 48.

Pulaski boys lacrosse team remains winless

Pulaski remained winless at 0-10 in the Bay Valley Conference and 0-15 overall with a 14-0 shutout loss to De Pere.

Bears defeat Chargers in eight innings

Tied at 3-3 going into the eighth inning, Wittenberg-Birnamwood scored a run in the top of the inning to take the lead, but Bonduel scored twice in the bottom of the inning to win 5-4.

For the Bears, Haley Conradt had four hits, and Emery Thompson had two.

Megan Fischer and Jayda Moenke had two hits for the Chargers.
