Corn condition reported 80% good to excellent in Wisconsin

Wisconsin had 3.4 days suitable for fieldwork statewide for the week ending June 14, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Rain was welcomed across most of the state, although there were scattered reports of storm damage.

Topsoil moisture condition rated 2% very short, 14% short, 74% adequate and 10% surplus.

Monmouth College

Leah Allan of Oconto has been named to the Dean’s List at Monmouth College for the spring 2026 semester. The students on this list achieved a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale while taking at least 3.0 academic credits during the semester.

Audrey De Bord

Audrey Malitta De Bord (née Kohls), a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away June 12, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born Aug. 9, 1942, in Gillett.

Her life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter and dedication to her family. She was the devoted wife of Doug De Bord, with whom she was married for 62 years, and together they built a life grounded in love and resilience.

Construction project will impact three upcoming events in Gillett

A major reconstruction of state Highway 22 — West Main Street and North McKenzie Avenue — in Gillett is continuing and will affect three upcoming events in the city before the project is completed later this year.

The road is currently closed from Finnegan Lake Road near Gillett Secondary School to its intersection with state Highway 32 on the city’s north side.

Sacred Heart community picnic

New Generation provided the music for the polka Mass for Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s community picnic June 14 at Franklin Park in Shawano. The annual picnic was moved this year from the church parking lot to the city park and included food trucks instead of church members grilling and selling food.

• Deon L. Duke, 48, Cecil, had his probation revoked March 13 from a 2024 felony conviction for criminal damage to property. Judge Katherine Sloma sentenced him June 8 to one year in county jail.

• Joshua J. Bessert, 51, Eland, pleaded no contest June 8 to failure to report to county jail. Judge William Kussel Jr. levied fines and court costs and sentenced him to six months in county jail.

• Jonathan C. Dismuke, 18, Little Chute, was charged June 8 with fleeing an officer in his vehicle and three counts of felony bail jumping. Judge Jay Conley set a $7,500 cash bond and adjourned his initial appearance until June 18.
