Shawano girls crush Green Bay East

A quick start by the Hawks led to a 50-7 halftime lead over Green Bay East, as Leah Nordin scored 22 of her 24 points in the first half.

The Hawks’ 1-3-1 defense caused many East turnovers and held them in check all night.

Jadyn Brown scored 13 points for Shawano, and Creden Weisnicht added eight.

Wins at end of match lead to Shawano victory

Shawano 42, Green Bay United 25

The boys’ matches between Shawano and Green Bay United started with several forfeits, but by the time the entire match was done, Shawano won comfortably 42-25.

Both teams forfeited at 106, and Shawano’s Nikkolas Waukau and Cashton Panske also won by forfeits at 113 and 120, respectively.

There was a full house at Shawano Community High School on Dec. 11 as the Hawks hosted Green Bay United for a dual match featuring boys, girls, varsity and junior varsity wrestling.

The girls won handily, 42-12.

In JV girls action, Braylon Nacotee won by fall in 1:36, and Amiyah O”Kimosh won 13-11 over Meicha Hamm of GBU.

Hawks hockey team wins fifth straight

Shawano/Bonduel 5, Medford 2

The Shawano Hawks defeated the Medford Red Raiders 5-2 in Medford on Dec. 11 capping a four-game road trip that has been a part of five straight wins for the Hawks.

After a scoreless first period, Medford scored at 1:08 in the second to take a 1-0 lead.

Granquist scores 29 to lead Chargers to victory

Green Bay Preble 63, Shawano 48

Green Bay Preble shot really well including seven 3-pointers in the first half to build a lead that Shawano couldn’t overcome in the second half.

The Hawks fell to 4-2 with the 63-48 loss.

Tigerton, Lena boys notch big wins

Tuesday, Dec. 9

Tigerton 79, Tomahawk 40

James Brady scored 33 points and led Tigerton to a 79-40 win over Tomahawk, while also improving to 3-0 on the season.

Sam Anheuser contributed 13 points, and Brody Miller added 11 in the win over the Hatchets.

Brady also led the Tigers with 15 rebounds. Anheuser paced the team with six assists, and Caleb Dahlstrom had six steals.
