Green Bay Preble shot really well including seven 3-pointers in the first half to build a lead that Shawano couldn’t overcome in the second half.

The Hawks fell to 4-2 with the 63-48 loss.

Tigerton, Lena boys notch big wins

Tigerton 79, Tomahawk 40

James Brady scored 33 points and led Tigerton to a 79-40 win over Tomahawk, while also improving to 3-0 on the season.

Sam Anheuser contributed 13 points, and Brody Miller added 11 in the win over the Hatchets.

Brady also led the Tigers with 15 rebounds. Anheuser paced the team with six assists, and Caleb Dahlstrom had six steals.

Shawano girls lose for first time

Fox Valley Lutheran handed Shawano its first loss of the seasons, winning 54-45 on the Hawks’ home court Dec. 6.

Freshman Kinley Peterson led the Foxes with 14 points.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 68, Menominee Nation 53

Wittenberg-Birnamwood won on its home court, defeating the Menominee Nation Eagles 68-53.

Hermann, Ayanna O’Kimosh lead Shawano wrestlers

Gwyn Hermann placed second and Ayanna O’Kimosh was third to lead the Shawano girls wrestling team at the Kimberly Invite on Dec. 6.

“We battled all day long for some hard-earned places,” coach Mike Homan said. “There was some great wrestling through positions and matches that went right down to the wire. I’m proud of all the girls fighting hard until the final whistle. There is much work to be done, but we are off to a good start.”

Ice Bears shut out Wildcats to improve to 5-0

The Bay Area Ice Bears girls hockey team improved to 5-0 with an 8-0 shutout over USM Wildcats on Dec. 6.

Addison Dahl and Hannah Von Haden each scored two goals, while Faye Brunke connected on one goal and had three assists.

Elizabeth Zunker started the scoring at 11:30 in the first period with assist from Dahl and Aisling Buchan.

Bears open CWC-East play with win over Iola-Scandinavia

Big games are nothing new to the Bonduel boys basketball team.

Nobody knows that more than Duke Copp, who coached the Bears to a spot in the WIAA Division 4 state championship game last season and a 50-44 win over Iola-Scandinavia Dec. 5 in the Central Wisconsin Conference-East opener for both teams.
