33 graduate at Suring

Suring High School commencement was held May 24 in the high school gymnasium. Verna C. Johnson Miller
Verna C. Johnson Miller, 77, of Bowler, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on Nov. 27, 1936, in the town of Red Springs, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Virginia (Mohawk) Johnson. Verna was married on March 12, 1955, to Charles Terrio Sr. for 13 years. On Aug. 7, 1976, she was united in marriage to Arvid “Babe” Miller Jr. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1997.

Lois A. Zastrow
Lois Adela Zastrow, 85, of Shawano, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014. Born on Nov. 11, 1928, in the town of Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Reinhold and Amanda (Ruhbusch) Wruck. She was baptized on Dec. 9, 1928, and was confirmed on May 10, 1942. Lois graduated from Shawano High School in 1946. After graduation she worked at Farmer’s Hardware. On Sept. 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Carl Zastrow in Shawano.

Wayne A. Waupoose
Wayne A. Waupoose, 41, of Denmark, died unexpectedly on June 2, 2014, in Shawano. Born on May 3, 1973, in Shawano, he is the son of the late Evelyn Kay Waupoose. Wayne was united in marriage to Nichole Justice on Oct. 6, 2006, at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. Wayne was a quiet, humble and honest individual who adored being the loving father to his two sons.

22 receive diplomas at Tigerton graduation
Tigerton High School held its 105th commencement exercise Friday with a graduating class of 22. “Welcome to the cross roads,” Principal David Battenberg told the class. Autumn Pingel, salutatorian and class president, noted that she became a student at Tigerton in eighth grade, but it didn’t take her long to fit in. School Notes
Sacred Heart School Friday will be our last day of school. It will be a full day, unlike the public schools, so transportation home from school will be needed. Please plan on picking up your child at 3:10 p.m. We will be walking to Arlington Park for the day, so make sure your child has proper foot wear. Wolfgang Stueck and Alex Mukka have been provided a campership to Camp Tekakwitha from The Council of Catholic Women.

Entry areas being improved at 2 Shawano schools
Renovations planned at two Shawano schools this summer are intended to help keep students and staff safe. Changes to the entry areas at the high school and middle school will force visitors to pass through the office area before entering the main portion of either school. Although visitors now have to be buzzed in by school personnel, the “blind” entrances at both schools enable guests to enter the building unseen by staff, other than via a secur

Investigation of Clintonville death continues
An investigation was continuing Tuesday into the death of a 24-year-old Appleton woman in Clintonville over the weekend. A 38-year-old Clintonville man was taken into custody during the course of that investigation and was being held on a probation violation, according to the Clintonville Police Department. No charges had been filed as of Tuesday. Police assisted the Clintonville Area Ambulance Service shortly after 12:30 a.m.
