Safe Kids Oconto County alerts caregivers to hazards of hot cars
With much of the country still suffering under record-high temperatures, Safe Kids Oconto County is reminding parents that the space inside of a car can quickly rise to deadly temperatures —and that caregivers should never leave children alone in a vehicle, even for a minute. Doing so puts children at serious risk of heatstroke, which has resulted in seven deaths so far this year and at least 1,132 hot car deaths since 1998.

Fears of prison unfounded after traffic stop
The blue and red lights flashing in my rear view mirror weren’t noticed until I heard a short warning that sounded curiously like a siren. Glancing up, I realized indeed it was a siren. It was for me. Stopping immediately, I could not imagine what on earth prompted the officer to pull me over. Did I forget to turn my lights on? It was getting dusky. Did I speed through town?
