Pulaski High School advanced one singles player and a pair of doubles teams to sectional tennis action, while Shawano had three singles players move on to the second round of the postseason.
Unfortunately, all of the girls lost in their opening matches of sectionals Oct. 8.
At No. 1 singles in Division 1, Pulaski’s Ruth Krause lost 6-0, 1-6, 10-7 to De Pere’s Lillianna Graf.
In Flight 1 of doubles play, Linde Lemerond and Aubrie Schuessler lost 6-4, 6-2 to Appleton North’s Olivia Gaskill and Rosie Whitlinger.
At No. 2 doubles, Ayla Groteluschen and Gretchen Rottier lost 6-0, 6-1 to De Pere’s Sophia Titus and Lane Deshazer.
In Division 2 sectional games, Shawano’s Ireland Letterman lost 6-2, 6-0 to Sheboygan Falls’ Riley Pelletiere at No. 1 singles.
Jaelyn Hietpas lost 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 to Lake Country Lutheran’s Rachel Maim at No.2, and Danielle Carroll lost 6-0, 7-6 (4) to Kohler’s Vivianne Torke at No. 3.
Subsectional matches were played Oct. 6.
Krause advanced to sectionals with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Green Bay Southwest’s Andie Troup.
At No. 2 singles, Anna Krause defeated Green Bay Southwest’s Izabelle Mueller 6-0, 6-0, but then lost 6-3, 6-2 to Bay Port’s Paige Gillette.
In Flight 3, Emory Groteluschen beat Green Bay East’s Genevieve Perrie 6-0, 6-0, and then lost 6-2, 6-0 to Notre Dame’s Allanna Sladky in the semifinals.
At No. 4 singles, Elizabeth Dornfield won 6-0, 6-0 over Green Bay Southwest’s Demi Kaquatosh. She then lost 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 to Bay Port’s Mira Erdmann in the semifinals.
In Flight 1 of doubles action, Lemerond and Schuessler beat Green Bay East’s Daniella Martin and Jeanely Burciaga 6-0, 6-1 to move on to sectionals.
Competing in the No. 2 spot, Groteluschen and Rottier won 6-0, 6-0 over Green Bay Southwest’s Flor Mendoza and Madison Beres. They then defeated Bay Port’s Sydney Wilder and Evelyn Story 2-6, 6-2, 10-4 to advance to sectionals.
At No. 3, Aubrey Coel and Riley Hartman had a bye in Round 1, but then lost 6-1, 6-0 to Notre Dame’s Tess Boeckman and Teya Bordini.
In Division 2 matches, Shawano’s Setterman beat New London’s Pippa Zaug and moved on to sectional play.
Hietpas had a bye in the first round, then beat Howards Grove’s Kamiyah Mansker 6-1, 6-2 to advance.
Carroll beat Marinette’s Adeline Bantle 6-0, 6-0, and won 6-2, 6-0 over St. Mary’s Springs Academy’s Stella Vande Slunt.
At No. 4 singles, Kendall Knope beat Howards Grove’s Beth Lamansky 6-0, 6-4 but lost to St. Mary Catholic’s Chelsea Galecke 6-1, 6-1 to end her season.
At No. 1 doubles, Claire Weiland and Olivia Dobratz lost 6-1, 6-3 to Marinette’s Bianca Furton and Norah Clochesy.
In Flight 2, Lana Owens and Madison Miller won 6-2, 6-0 over Marinette’s Andie Rasmussen and Dorathy Ezeh. Following that, they lost 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 to St. Mary Catholic’s Simone Blackburn and Mahri Huempfner.
At No. 3 doubles, Gabrielle Gumieny and Ava Hoffman lost 6-4, 6-7 (75), 10-5 to Lourdes Academy’s Izzi Mugerauer and Leah Ridenour.
