Sherman L. Pues
Sherman L. Pues, 77, of the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at his residence. Sherman was born on Nov. 11, 1936, in the Township of Maine, Shawano County, the son of the late Earl and Carrol (Monroe) Pues. He later graduated from Shawano High School.
Diagnosing poor defensive performances
Another week, another poor performance by the Green Bay Packers defense. The defense couldn’t get a stop for most of the game Sunday, allowing drives of 69, 63, 59, 85 and 63 yards against the Minnesota Vikings. Even the rush defense, so good early in the season, allowed 232 yards.

Green Bay Packers Touchdowns The Green Bay Packers would have won if they were able to score a touchdown on either of their final two drives against the Minnesota Vikings. Instead, the team was forced to settle for a pair of Mason Crosby field goals and the tie. The Packers also had problems getting touchdowns against the Detroit Lions earlier this season.
Abrams troupe to present ‘The Sound of Music’
Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will close their 10th anniversary season with a performance of one of the world’s most beloved shows, “The Sound of Music.” The musical marks the final collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. When a postulant proves too high-spirited for religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval captain.
Gillett annual Christmas event includes parade
The Gillett community will celebrate the season with Christmas in the Park on Saturday, Dec. 7. Sponsored by the Gillett Business Association, the event includes activities at Zippel Park from 1-4 p.m. and a parade on Main Street at 4:30 p.m., immediately followed by a tree-lighting ceremony and fireworks display. Activities in the expo building of Zippel Park include a bake sale, cake walk and craft sale.
Emergency tips shared at Brazeau open house
Brazeau Emergency Services held an open house Oct. 8 at the fire department building. The open house featured a visit from Smokey Bear, a smoke house demonstration and fire extinguisher demonstrations. Kids learned safety rules by playing games, and families received safety items and information.
