Stars and candy cane stripes forever
This year’s gift from the Box in the Wood Theatre Guild will be wrapped up in red, white and blue. “Star Spangled Christmas” debuts Thursday at the Mielke Arts Center and will feature songs and scenes from a number of American shows. This is the sixth year that the guild has given a free Christmas show to the community. Many of the cast members were part of the guild’s summer children’s theater workshop in August.
William C. Peterson
William C. Peterson, 84, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, Nov. 28, 2013. Kurt D. Buettner
Kurt D. Buettner, 54, of Shawano, lost his valiant 10-month battle with cancer on Friday morning, Nov. 29, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Funeral service arrangements are pending and will be announced later.
Michael Lee Martzke
Michael Lee Martzke, 62, of the town of Wescott, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at his home. Born on May 11, 1951, in Shawano, he was the son of Eldor and Norma (Buettner) Martzke. After graduating from Shawano High School in 1969, Mike worked on the family farm near Red River. On May 17, 1987, he was united in marriage to Karen Gumaer at the First Presbyterian Church in Shawano.
Lance M. “Fishman” Fish
Lance Melvin “Moshawquit” Fish, 26, of Keshena, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at his home. Born on Aug. 30, 1987, in Shawano, he was the son of Patricia Schanandore and the late John Fish. Lance had a love of music, enjoyed reading and liked animals, but his heart belonged to his beloved daughter, Anastasia. He cherished his time with her as well as the rest of his family.
MaryAnn L. Wendt
MaryAnn L. Wendt, 78, of Kodak, Tenn., formerly of Tigerton, went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at her home after a lingering illness. My loving wife, the former MaryAnn Lorraine Schroeder, was born on Oct. 20, 1935, in the township of Grant, Shawano County, to the late Alfred L. and Anna A. (Beyersdorf) Schroeder.
Pansy C. Olson
Pansy C. Olson, 72, of the township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Green Bay. Pansy was born on Dec. 10, 1940, in the township of Pella, Shawano County, the daughter of the late Ervin and Regina (Konkel) Arndt. In 1959, she graduated from Tigerton High School.
Marion Haugen Ellis
Marion Haugen Ellis, 89, of Shawano, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013. Born May 1, 1924, in Fillmore County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Ole and Susie (Hillestad) Haugen. On August 19, 1949, in North Prairie, Minn., Marion was united in marriage to Rudy Ellis, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2011.
