Child sexual assault A Shawano man is facing a felony charges of having sexual contact with a minor and intimidating her to keep her from reporting the alleged offense to police. Matthew C. Malone, 31, is accused of having sexual contact with a 10-year-old girl in December.

Cleo A. Holewinski, 87, of Shawano, formerly of Green Bay, passed away Wednesday evening, March 4, 2015, at ManorCare of Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past three years. Cleo was born May 26, 1927, in Green Bay, a daughter of the late Daniel and Anna (Marto) Nelson. She attended school in Green Bay.
Sheriff’s office resuscitates CPR class
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department is reviving a CPR course that had been previously cancelled due to a lack of participants. Sheriff Adam Bieber said some initial miscommunication when the class was first announced caused some people who would otherwise have taken the class to believe it was more of a time commitment than it was. Suspect in armed robbery seeks new lawyer
A Gillett woman accused of robbing a Shawano grocery store at knifepoint is seeking a new attorney ahead of her jury trial later this month. Brenda S. Webster, 57, could face a maximum 40 years in prison and $100,000 fine if found guilty of armed robbery.

People across the globe celebrated the 96th annual World Day of Prayer on Friday. Locally, a worship celebration at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Cecil attracted about 60 people from several denominations.
