County Board OKs 50 new radios

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department will get 50 new radios to replace models made obsolete by the county’s new simulcast system. The County Board voted 19-6 Wednesday to spend $210,840 to purchase the radios — 34 in patrol vehicles and 16 portable units — that have little to no coverage under the new digital system. Kenneth E. Weso Sr.
Kenneth E. Weso Sr., 71 of Menominee County, started his journey home on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. Kenneth was born Oct. 21, 1941, in Keshena, a son of the late Ellis and Margaret (Whitefish) Weso. Ken was employed at the Vlasic Company in Bonduel and also worked in the woods. A true free spirit, Ken loved to fish and be in the woods. Survivors include his children, Kenneth E.

Bonduel business gets micro-loan from SCEPI
Shawano County Economic Progress Inc. (SCEPI) has announced the completion of a revolving micro-loan for a project in the village of Bonduel. Greg and Melissa Trinko have received a $10,000 loan to assist with the purchase of Meadow View Estates, an assisted living facility located at 400 W. Mill St.

Electronic intimidation now county crime
Shawano County is going after people who use electronic means to harass or threaten others. The County Board unanimously approved an amendment to its ordinance earlier this week making such bullying tactics a violation of county law.
