Roger "Bud" Alvin Vaughn Krause, 58, of Wittenberg, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 7, 2026.
Roger was born March 7, 1968, in Tigerton, the son of Vaughn and Norita (Hamus) Krause.
On Sept. 6, 2003, Roger was united in marriage to Mary Brasel in Stevens Point.
Roger spent several years working for Andy’s Towing before owning and operating Krause Towing & Recovery. He also worked for the Town of Wittenberg, where he could often be found plowing snow and mowing the roadsides. For a short time, Roger even raced stock cars.
Roger was someone who took pride in staying busy and was never one to hesitate when someone needed a helping hand. Whether it was lending a hand to a neighbor, working on equipment or taking care of his farm animals, Roger was happiest when he was keeping busy, helping others or being at home with his family.
Fall was one of his favorite times of the year, as deer hunting season brought family and friends together. Roger looked forward to having everyone stop in, sharing stories and making memories.
Roger is survived by his wife, Mary; two children, Michael and McKenize Krause; three siblings, Glenda (Myron) Welch, of Neoga, Illinois, Patty (Jonathan) Travis, of College Place, Washington, and their children, Luke (Larissa), Beth and Charity Travis, and Deena (Larry) Grimm, of Cashton, and their children, Heidi (Joel) Lindahl and Peter Grimm; mother-in-law, Betty Brasel, of Stevens Point; brothers-in-law, Jim (Angie) Brasel, of Plover, and Jeff (Chris) Brasel, of Scandinavia, and their children, John and Kelsey Brasel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Gene Brasel; and brother-in-law, Don Decker.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, in the gymnasium at the Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School, Wittenberg. Pastor Jerry Hubert and Elder Brian Hubert will preside. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg, at a later date. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the high school. Immediately following the service, there will be a luncheon, provided by Rachel's Roadside, at the Wittenberg Town Hall.
