School Notes
Shawano Community High School It’s homecoming week at Shawano Community High School. Events on Friday include the annual homecoming parade, which begins at 6 p.m. Parade participants will line up at 5 p.m. at the parking lot across from Memorial Park. The semifinals of the powder-puff football tourney will begin at 7:15 p.m., with the championship game at 7:45 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin about 8:15 p.m.

Menominee Indian offense falters in loss
Coming off a two-game winning streak, the Menominee Indian High School football team took a step backward Saturday in a loss to Laona/Wabeno in Keshena. Menominee Indian (2-4, 1-2 Northern Lakes) lost to Laona/Wabeno (3-2, 3-1 Northern Lakes) 22-6. “We just came out flat,” Menominee Indian coach Chris Clache said.

Hawks downed in Seymour The Shawano Community High School volleyball team pushed Bay Conference foe Seymour to five sets before losing on Tuesday in Seymour. The Hawks (1-3 Bay) won the first game 25-23, lost the next two to Seymour (2-2 Bay) 25-16, 25-19. Shawano won the next game 25-21, but lost the tie-breaker 15-5. Peyton Going and Erika Dunnam led with eight kills each. Dunnam had three aces. Bella Gonzalez had six blocks and six kills.

Hawks beat Seymour in swimming
The Shawano/Bonduel high school girls swim team edged Seymour 96-74 Tuesday at SCHS. Shawano/Bonduel took firsts in nine of 11 events, including two each by Ali Hanson and Clare Martell. Hanson took first in the 50-yard freestyle and led a 1-2-3 Hawks sweep in the 100 butterfly, with Emme Quandt taking second and Alyssa Anker placing third. “It’s a fun thing to see happen, the girls get really excited,” Shawano/Bonduel coach Sharon Hanson said.

Hawks top West De Pere 2-1
The Hawks control their own destiny. That was the message Shawano Community High School boys soccer coach Bob Croschere had for his players Tuesday night ahead of a Bay Conference match against West De Pere. With a 2-1 victory, Shawano secured the No. 2 seed in the Bay Conference tournament, which begins Thursday. “They took that to heart,” Croschere said.

The last weekend in September on the path around the Falls was a winner, even if there were no Green Bay Packers to watch. Each year the NFL teams have a bye week to allow for some regrouping and family time.

Oconto Falls Police Department
An Oconto Falls man, 34, was arrested Sept. 10 on Green Bay Avenue for bail jumping and possession of a narcotic drug. A patio table valued at $30 was reported stolen Sept. 10 from a North Oakland Avenue residence. An Oconto Falls male, 28, and female, 27, were arrested for domestic-related battery Sept. 15 at a North Farm Road residence. A disorderly conduct citation was issued to an Oconto Falls High School male student, 16, on Sept. 16.

At 1:15 p.m Sept. 20, a pickup truck driven by a man from Princeton was traveling south on Sullivan Spring Road in the town of Lakewood. He stopped his vehicle to allow an oncoming vehicle to pass on the narrow road. The right tire of his truck shifted on the soft shoulder, causing his vehicle to enter a ditch and turn on its side.
