Teagan Monfils and Nick Matz led their respective Shawano Community High School cross-country teams at the 35th annual Red Raider Invitational on Thursday in Pulaski. Monfils finished 21st overall, with a time of 16:01. Kristy Kurtz finished in 16:47 for 42nd overall. The Hawks girls finished in 11th place as a team with a score of 268.

Shawano County officials are exploring the possibility of getting gaming compact funds from a future Menominee casino in Kenosha, if Gov. Scott Walker approves. Jean Marie Waupoose, 78, of Neopit, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, in Waukegan, Ill. Born on Aug. 12, 1935, in Keshena, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Theresa (Tucker) Heath.
