University of Nebraska-Lincoln Shannon Kathryn Konkol, of Hatley, was among 1,288 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during commencement exercises Dec. 16-17. Konkol earned a juris doctorate from the College of Law. She also earned a Master of Arts from the Office of Graduate Studies. Peters named CEO for Indigenous alliance
Pamela Boivin, chairwoman of the Wisconsin Indigenous Economic Development Corporation (WIEDC), recently announced the hiring of Jennifer L. Peters as chief executive officer of the organization. “Jennifer’s diverse background, skills and experience were the perfect fit for our organization,” Boivin said.
Bingo has a new home at Shawano County Fair
With bingo becoming more and more popular each year, the Shawano County Fair will feature a new building for the event at the 2023 fair. Shawano Speedway and Fairgrounds Marketing and Promotions Manager Brad Luepke said that constructing a new building has been in the works for a while.
Buffalo returned to Menominee tribe
A local group has recently brought buffalo back to the mighty animal’s homeland on the Menominee Reservation. The Menikanaehkem Community Rebuilders helped to spearhead the effort to bring the buffalo back. Caretaker Donavan Waupoose said that 130 or more years ago buffalo roamed all across North America.
