The Marion Area Historical Society will host its annual Heritage Day on July 26 on the grounds of the historical society at 620 E. Ramsdell St., near the ballpark. Events start with a car show. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Vehicles include cars, trucks, hot rods, tractors and motorcycles. Crafters and vendors will be on site from 9 a.m.

St. Olaf College Tigerton’s Mary Kreklow, a quantitative economics major at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, was named to the spring 2025 dean’s list. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must earn a GPA of 3.75 or better and complete at least three credits for that semester. Kreklow is the daughter of Lee and Linda Kreklow. Winona State University Winona State University has announced the graduation list for spring semester 2025.

Wabeno Art and Music Fest returns to the Northwoods on July 19 at the downtown bandshell in Wabeno. The festival will feature live music and performances by local and regional musicians beginning at 11 a.m. through the evening headliner, Adam Trask, at 8 p.m. There student art show will be in the Legion Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for viewing art from middle and high school students from Laona and Wabeno.

Concordia University Wisconsin Reece Stoltenow, a Bonduel resident and Concordia University Wisconsin student, has received a LeRoy C. Schmidt 150-hour scholarship for $3,000 from the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants Educational Foundation. The scholarship is named after former WICPA Executive Director LeRoy C. Schmidt, who was executive director from 1990-2006.

University of Maryland Global Campus Nearly 18,000 University of Maryland Global Campus students were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2025 term.

I recently participated in the 27th annual Acadia Birding Festival in Maine. After each bird festival I attend, I reflect upon my experience. Not only does it help to solidify what I learned while birding, e.g. bird identification field marks and new bird calls, but it also helps to bring some thought-provoking lessons to light.
