Officials: Obama attack article should be removed

An article posted on the bulletin board at the Shawano City-County Airport referring to Barack Obama as “Kenyan-born” violates anti-politicking policies, according to officials, and should be taken down. “Any posting like that is inappropriate,” County Board Chairman Jerry Erdmann said, “especially in a public place operated by government funds.” The article appears to be printed from the online edition of the Sunday Standard dated June 27, 2004,

Authorities issue sex offender notice
Shawano County authorities have issued a public notice regarding a convicted sex offender who moved into the village of Tigerton this week. Dale R. Schultz, 47, was released from prison Thursday after serving a sentence for first degree sexual assault of a child.

Michael Rogers takes local veterans to their medical appointments. Rogers was born in Milwaukee and, after moving to Shawano, graduated from Shawano High School in 1984. He joined the Marine Corps and planned to make it a career until 1990 when he injured his knee.

First Presbyterian Church in Shawano has been the site of the monthly Community Dinners since December 2010. “They’re going really well,” said Angie Wilber, who was instrumental in starting them. Wilber brought the idea to the Rev. Susan Phillips of First Presbyterian Church, who told her to proceed. Computer virus spurs reflection
All is right again. No panic attacks, no freaking, no yelling at something that can’t talk back to me. This monster that I once thought of as a friend is working again. From this day forward I will live in fear that it will turn on me once again. This morning I turned on the computer; it didn’t do what it normally does. I had noticed yesterday that things were whacked and not looking right, and other stuff was popping up all over.
Flurry of activity
The farm is a busy place this time of the year, a flurry of activity. We are into harvesting our second crop of hay now and have just finished our peas and oats, bagging that and baling the second crop. I’m humbled and blessed that we have another abundant return. The moisture and heat together have made our alfalfa thick and lush in most spots.
Marcella E. Malliet
Marcella E. Malliet, 74, of Shawano, formerly Clintonville, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Appleton Medical Center. The former Marcella Elaine LeNoble was born Oct. 7, 1938, in the town of Matteson, Waupaca County, to William and Imogene (Geer) LeNoble. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1956 and was united in marriage on March 2, 1957, to Loy L. Malliet at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville.
