Aaron Rodgers missed about half the season. Now, he can make up for lost time. Rodgers returned from a broken collarbone and fired a 48-yard touchdown to Randall Cobb in the final minute Sunday to lead the Green Bay Packers to a 33-28 victory over the Chicago Bears and the NFC North championship. "There were a lot of opportunities for us to give up, and we just kept believing in each other," Rodgers said.

Gresham boys win tournament opener The Gresham Community School boys basketball team outscored Oneida Nation in each of the first three quarters en route to a 53-42 win Friday on the opening day of the Gresham Holiday Tournament. Christian Haffner and Killian Eggert led Gresham (6-1, 4-1 Central Wisconsin Conference-10) with 13 points each. Eggert also had five assists.

Hawks fall to Wrightstown at Shootout
When the Shawano Community High School boys basketball team needed some offense to get over the hump, it had a tough time producing points. The Hawks trailed by as many as nine points against Wrightstown and, after tying the game in the third quarter, could never take the lead.

UW band to perform in Clintonville
The University of Wisconsin varsity band, under the direction of Michael Leckrone, will be coming to Clintonville for a two-hour show in April. Hosted by the Clintonville Lions and Rotary clubs for their 11th annual joint Entertainment Night fundraiser, the band will perform at 7 p.m. April 5 in the fieldhouse at Clintonville High School, 64 W.

Unemployment rates increase slightly
Unemployment in Shawano County ticked up slightly in November from the previous month, according to the latest figures from the state Department of Workforce Development (DWD). Shawano County’s unemployment rate was 6.5 percent in November compared to 6.2 percent in October.

Volunteer Profile
Paul and Jane Krause help at the Shawano Area Food Pantry and Resource Center and at their church, Hope Community, whenever they can. Paul is from Howard in Brown County and graduated from Pulaski High School. He worked in manufacturing for eight years, then was a meter reader for 34 years for Wisconsin Public Service. He retired in 2003. Jane is from Green Bay, graduating from Green Bay West High School.

Happy New Year!
In a reflective mood with the New Year coming to a close, I realize I’ve become more nostalgic, recalling the past and enjoying the memories as I age. I like to stay home more and find deep contentment in that. My family and extended family are close to my heart and treasured. I love them with a fierceness that cannot be put into words.
