Unity offering personal care in Shawano, Oconto counties

Unity has announced an expansion of services to nonmedical home care, sometimes referred to as personal care, senior care or companion care. Unity’s Care Companions program offers a wide menu of services designed to help any adult live independently and with dignity in their own home.
Motorsports author’s book tour stops locally
Motorsports author and Green Bay native Joe Verdegan has announced a book tour in December to promote his seventh book, “5-10-32 – McBride, Parker and Anvelink,” which will feature the trio of Northeast Wisconsin dirt late model icons. Those icons featured in the book are M.J.
Corridors bustle with energy as school year begins
With the start of the new school year upon us, it has been exciting to be a part of the energy and activities that come with the return of our students! As I write this newsletter, it is currently the first day of school and it won’t be long before the halls will be lined with examples of student work and bulletin board celebrations.
Club Notes: Shawano Area Writers
Shawano Area Writers met Aug. 19 in the Veslak Room at the Shawano County Library. There were 12 members present. Dennis Vickers, president, started the July 19 meeting with the reading of the minutes by Barb King. The minutes were approved. Next was the treasurer’s report by John Mutter. The report was approved. There were no reports about writing classes yet.
Ambulance service hosting open house
Shawano Ambulance Service will be hosting an open house to showcase its new facility located at 220 N. Main St. in Shawano on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A short presentation will take place at 10:30 a.m. The organization spent more than two years planning and constructing the facility, which houses five ambulances and is staffed with three crews 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
