Opal M. Lohmiller, 84, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, Dec. 26, 2013, at the Appleton Medical Center, where she had been a patient for the past 12 days. Opal was born on Oct. 3, 1929, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Robert and Ella (Huebner) Krueger. She attended St. James Lutheran Grade School and later Shawano High School, graduating from Shawano High in 1946.

Roger D. Erdmann, 73, of Shawano, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in Appleton. Born on July 21, 1940, in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Evelyn (Mueller) Erdmann. On May 11, 1974, in Berlin, Roger was united in marriage to Dorothy Rutkauskas. Roger had a passion for nature and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, back-packing, hunting and boating.

Alfred L. Siolka, 85, of Bonduel, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the St. Casimir Catholic Church in Krakow. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Jolene R. Bowan, 52, of Shawano, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at her home surrounded by family and friends. Born on Oct. 26, 1961, in Shawano, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Zimmerman) Bowan and the late Allen L. Bowan. Jolene lived in Shawano her entire life. She worked as a nurse and established the Bowan Adult Family Home. When not at work, she enjoyed landscaping and collecting angels.

Two former Wisconsin nursing home workers have been sentenced after being accused of using cellphones to record and share images of unclothed elderly patients. Twenty-three-year-old Michelle Bulger of Cecil and 20-year-old Ashley Schaumberg of Pulaski were sentenced in Brown County Court this month to reduced charges. Shawano Police Department Dec. 25 Police logged 11 incidents, including the following: Disabled Vehicle — Police responded to a disabled vehicle complaint at Birch Hill Lane and Prospect Street. Weapon Offense — A 53-year-old Shawano man sought treatment at the Shawano Medical Center emergency room after accidentally discharging a pistol, grazing his hip and leg area, in the 1200 block of South Lafayette Street.
