School Notes

Hillcrest Primary School The first-graders have been very busy this month. In art class, they made beautiful gingerbread houses for the holidays. The students did a wonderful job singing during their winter concert. The Humane Society came and talked about caring for pets. The students were very generous with their donations to the Humane Society.

Eugene O. Wolf
Eugene O. Wolf, 77, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Born on Oct. 12, 1936, in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Henry and Emma (Sobieski) Wolf. After graduating from high school, Eugene enlisted with the United States Reserves. On Feb. 7, 1959, he was united in marriage to Norma Elaine Meyer. Eugene worked for many years at the Neenah Foundry.
Margaret A. Sousek
Margaret A. Sousek, nee Richards, 97, formerly of Gresham, passed away Wednesday morning, Dec. 25, 2013, in Shawano. Funeral service arrangements are pending and will be announced Saturday. Two County Board races confirmed
Two races for the Shawano County Board in the spring election appear to be set, but six others were also looking likely as of Tuesday. All 27 county supervisors will be up for re-election April 1. Potential candidates have until Jan.
2 missing persons cases still active
Months after they were filed, two missing person cases remain open for city and county law enforcement, even though their trails have gotten colder and potential leads have gotten fewer. Heather Szekeres, 32, of Shawano was last confirmed to have been at the former Final Lap Sports Bar and Grill in downtown Shawano at 11 p.m.
State will pay for replacing most of trees in Hwy. 22 project
Clintonville residents concerned about the trees that will be removed as part of the state Highway 22 reconstruction project got some good news this month. In a report to the Common Council on Dec.
Clintonville wrestler records 100th win
Jake Reiter may have hit a major milestone last week, getting his 100th career win, but the Clintonville High School senior says the wins are not as important to him as the losses. “I don’t really look back on the matches I won,” said Reiter, who wrestles at 195 pounds.
