So far, I have had no urge to dig in the dirt. I did get out one day and puttered around trying to rid the landscaped area of raspberry brush. Once that stuff gets started, it grows fast and gets into everything. I snipped and pulled and got rid of most of it but will have to keep my eye on things and keep trimming. I have given up on the blackberry brush.

A Shawano man is facing a felony charge of reckless endangerment for firing a gun in his apartment Thursday night. Ryan J. McGeshick, 28, could face a maximum 12 1/2 years in prison and a $25,000 fine if found guilty. He is also charged with a felony count of second-offense possession of marijuana, which carries a possible maximum sentence of 3 1/2 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Merlyn “Bob” Carley, 86, Bowler, peacefully went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his home. He was the son of the late Hiram and Frances (Kolpack) Carley. Bob proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II in Pearl Harbor, Okinawa and Guam. On April 16, 1950, he married Mary Hull at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bowler. They were married 53 years until she preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2004.
