Five-year-old Isabella Lundt had a dream come true recently when the Cinderella Carriage, sponsored by the Make a Wish Foundation, pulled up in front of her Clintonville home. Hawks top Denmark in girls soccer The Shawano Community High School girls soccer defeated Denmark 5-1 Thursday on the road. Sarah Dickmann and Louisa Keenan each scored two goals, and Megan Klitzke added one. Lindsey McFarlane and Morgan Klitzke each recorded an assist. In goal for the Hawks (7-6, 3-2 Bay Conference), Carlie Hinnefeld had three saves.

Zach Acker shot a three-over-par 38 to earn medalist honors and lead the Bonduel High School boys golf team to victory Tuesday at Glacierwood Golf Course. Bonduel (190) won by 11 strokes over host Amherst, while Gresham shot 203 and Menominee Indian 217 in the Central Wisconsin Conference regular season finale. “We’ve been waiting awhile for Zach to put up a good round and it happened today,” coach Dan Anderson said.

Shawano and Seymour split a doubleheader in Bay Conference baseball action Tuesday. Chase Henning’s two-run single in the top of the 10th inning gave the Hawks (4-10, 4-7 Bay) a 5-4 win in the second game. Henning was 3 for 5 with 4 RBIs. Jaryd Wilber was 3 for 4. Jack Lacy earned the win, giving up one earned run and three hits in 2 1/3 innings. He walked one batter and did not record a strikeout. Casey Jefson took the loss.

Some days, Braden Mueller isn’t even the best golfer on his team. On Thursday, he was the best golfer on the course. The Shawano Community High School junior was the lone golfer out of 64 players to shoot in the 70s as he won medalist honors at the Stu Anderson Invitational at River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls. “Braden’s played well all year long,” Shawano coach Dean Kugler said.

A fourth potential candidate for Shawano County sheriff took out nomination papers Thursday, according to the county clerk’s office. Lucas Christenson, of Shawano, has filed to run as an Independent in the November election. He will have until 5 p.m.

Three young women will compete Saturday for the Shawano County Fairest of the Fair crown. The winner will preside over various activities at the Shawano County Fair in August, and represent the county at other events and the Wisconsin State Fair. Megan Welk, of Gresham, is the reigning Fairest of the Fair. The annual banquet will begin at 11 a.m.

A shotgun wedding in Keshena on Friday will help homeless veterans. Rosewater, a rock/country band with roots in rural Wisconsin, will perform in concert at 8 p.m.
