Jacob Wudtke and Courtney Schmidt were honored as Bonduel High School Senior Athletes of the Year at the spring athletic banquet June 2 at the school. Wudtke, who played four years of football, wrestling and baseball, was a team captain in all three sports and a two-time state qualifier in wrestling. “He’s one of those guys, if you look in the dictionary under the word leader, they’d show a picture of him,” baseball coach Don Gruenewald said.

The Shawano County University of Wisconsin-Extension office will be running two strength-training classes in the summer and two more classes in the fall. The Strong Bones Program classes meet at 8:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from June 16 through Sept. 3 and at 7:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 17 through Sept. 4 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will conduct a public meeting June 24 to discuss proposed improvements to state Highway 47 (Airport Drive) between state Highway 29 and state Highway 22 (Green Bay Street) in Shawano. The existing pavement on Airport Drive is deteriorated and has reached the end of its service life, according to the DOT.

Lawrence “Larry” E. Bricco Jr., 55, of Clintonville, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in the Township of Long Lake, Florence County. Larry was born on May 11, 1959, in Clintonville, the son of the late Lawrence and Rosalie “Rosie” (Kupsky) Bricco Sr. He attended Clintonville High School, then served in the U.S. Army from 1977 until 1981. Returning to Clintonville, Larry trained and became an E.M.T. for Clintonville Area Ambulance Service.
