“Emerging Talents,” a show of original art by nearly 100 Wittenberg-Birnamwood students from kindergarten through 12th grade, opens Saturday at the WOWSpace, 114 Vinal St., in Wittenberg. The students will be recognized at an awards reception from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

Linda Sue Caldwell, 62, of Neopit, walked on after a short illness, on June 6, 2014. Linda was born on June 26, 1951, in Keshena to the late Alexander “Askie” and Sue (John) Askenette. She was united in marriage to Eugene Joseph Caldwell on Feb. 3, 1973. Linda was employed by Menominee Tribal Enterprises for 35 years, first working as the secretary for forestry and later as an accounting clerk until the time of her illness.

Elizabeth L. (Betty) Megna, 88, died on June 6, 2014. Betty was born on July 26, 1925, in Guttenberg, Iowa. She attended grade and high school in Milwaukee. After World War II, Betty married Mark A. Megna on Aug. 30, 1947. They moved to Shawano, where Mark was a teacher and Betty a homemaker and then a part-time/full-time bookkeeper.

David Teller Sr., 46, of Neopit, began his journey to the spirit world on June 7, 2014. He was born on Nov. 14, 1967, in Shawano, to the late Raymond “Steve” Teller and Shirley (Crowe) Teller. David attended Menominee schools and went on to work at the MTE Mill and for the Menominee Housing Department. David was a kind, caring person. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need and never ask for anything in return.

The Shawano Ski Sharks will dive into their 37th season this week with the first of their weekly water ski shows Wednesday and a Learn to Ski Day on Friday. “It’s free family entertainment every Wednesday night with full concessions,” said Ski Sharks president Dave Passehl, who joined the club when he was 12 and has been a member for 25 years. Tom Madsen might need to reapply for his job, if the Shawano County Board approves a resolution changing the administrative coordinator job from part time to full time. The Administrative Committee voted unanimously Monday to draft a resolution for the County Board to make the position full time, which it had been until two years ago, when Frank Pascarella left the position.

The Shawano County clerk’s office is accepting marriage applications from same-sex couples. U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb late Friday declared Wisconsin’s gay marriage ban unconstitutional but did not issue an order telling the state how to implement her decision. She is mulling whether to adopt a proposed order from the American Civil Liberties union that would force clerks to issue licenses. Attorney General J.B.

Sex Offender Registry violation An arrest warrant was issued Monday for a Bonduel man who went missing from the state Sex Offender Registry. Jason R. Mann, 33, was charged with a felony count of violating the requirements of the registry by failing to keep the state apprised of his address. His whereabouts are unknown. Mann was convicted in 1998 in Shawano County of second degree sexual assault of a child.
