Oconto Falls police officers were granted wage increases for each year of a new three-year contract adopted April 14 by the Oconto Falls City Council. The contract, which was resolved with the help of a mediator April 9, grants a 2 percent raise for 2015, retroactive to Jan. 1.

Three homes on Eagle Drive and one on Green Bay Avenue reported April 5 that eggs were thrown at their homes sometime during the previous night. On April 6, a father of an Oconto Falls fifth-grade girl reported his daughter received a threatening message on Instagram from two fifth-grade boys. Police met with the boys, who apologized. Robert A. “Bob” Calewarts, 86, Suamico, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 18, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born Sept. 10, 1928, to Harvey and Lucille (Roskom) Calewarts. On April 7, 1951, he married the former Joyce Vollmar at St. John the Baptist Church in Howard. Joyce preceded Bob in death on Jan. 5, 2013. After graduating from West High School, Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Mary “Elaine” Niemann (Grindle), 78, Mountain, died peacefully April 14, 2015. Elaine was born in Oconto to the late Frank and Leona Grindle, and lived her entire life on the family’s homestead in an area of Mountain referred to as Pine Stump.
