District eyes referendum for middle school

The Shawano School Board took the first steps Monday to calling for a November referendum that, if passed by voters, would provide needed renovations to Shawano Community Middle School. The board voted unanimously to allow district leaders to send out a request for proposals from architects.

City, ThedaCare to negotiate hospital property’s future
City officials Tuesday approved entering into negotiations with ThedaCare over the Shawano Medical Center property that will be vacated later this year. The Shawano Common Council came out of closed session discussions at its reorganizational meeting and voted to “authorize and direct the city attorney, mayor and city administrator to enter into negotiations with ThedaCare for development of the hospital site,” City Administrator Brian Knapp said
Packers to host Bears in Thanksgiving game
The Green Bay Packers’ 95th NFL regular-season schedule — highlighted by a Thanksgiving night game at Lambeau Field against the Chicago Bears, the first home Thanksgiving game since 1923 — was released this evening by the National Football League. Brenda Lowrance, a 1983 graduate of Oconto Falls High School, has been named a Mountain West region finalist in the clinical care, inpatient category for the 2015 Nurse.com GEM award honoring outstanding nurses nationwide. Changes coming at Oconto health centers
In an effort to streamline services and maximize efficiencies for patients, a number of changes will be made to the HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital Prevea Oconto Health Center and the Prevea Oconto Health Center. Maple Valley Mutual Insurance Company’s performance for 2014 showed both favorable and unfavorable results, according to information released March 24 at the 124th annual meeting.
