The 2015 schedule of the famed half-mile Shawano Speedway, which opens its season Saturday, is once again littered with special events — something for the whole family. The highlights again this season include the return of the World of Outlaw Late Models on July 28 for the 50-lap, $10,000-to-win Sun Drop Shootout. Administrator: Auditor not to blame for Clintonville debt surprise
Clintonville’s auditor, Schenk Associates, is not to blame for the Common Council not knowing the city owes the state more than $1.1 million in an unfunded pension liability, according to interim City Administrator Chuck Kell. WRBA Parade of Homes application deadline set
The Wolf River Builders Association is inviting members to participate in its first Parade of Homes in October. The deadline to enter the parade, which is Oct. 3-4, is May 31. WRBA represents members in Shawano, Menominee and northern Oconto counties. The event will enable area residents hoping to build, renovate or landscape their homes to view the newest in home and landscaping ideas and techniques.

Phyllis J. Kratzke
Phyllis J. Kratzke, 84, of the township of Morris, Shawano County, passed away at her home on Wednesday evening, April 15, 2015. Phyllis was born on July 22, 1930, in the township of Little Wolf, Waupaca County, as the daughter of the late Joseph and Esther (Swenson) Kolosso. She graduated from Marion High School in 1948, and remained friends with many of her classmates the rest of her life.

Jean M. (Nachtwey) Destiche
Jean Marie Destiche, 87, Green Bay, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. She was born on Nov. 5, 1927, in Shawano to the late Clarence and Hulda Nachtwey. On Oct. 21, 1967, Jean married William P. “Bill” Destiche at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2007. After graduating from Shawano High School, Jean relocated to Milwaukee to work as a bank clerk for M&I Bank.

High School Highlights
BASEBALL Bonduel 15 Witt-Birn 1 Bonduel belted out 15 hits and Trevor Pedersen pitched five hitless innings at home Thursday as the Bears remained undefeated. The Bears scored three in the first and seven runs in the second, all with two outs. They added three in the third and two in the fourth. Witt-Birn plated its only run in the first on a walk, a wild pitch and a passed ball. Pedersen struck out nine, walked three and hit one batter.
