Eagles fall to HOPE Christian The Menominee Indian High School football team lost its season-opening game 28-14 to Milwaukee HOPE Christian on Friday in Milwaukee. HOPE Christian took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and led 28-8 by halftime. Menominee Indian quarterback Dallas Madosh ran for a touchdown in the second quarter and hit Michael Pecore for a 32-yard touchdown in the third. Guy D. Crowe
Guy D. Crowe, 63, of Keshena, began his journey to the spirit world on Thursday evening, Aug. 22, 2013. Guy was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Keshena, a son of the late Albert P. Sr. and Evelyn (Teller) Crowe (Kaquatosh). Guy lived and worked in Milwaukee for several years before returning to the Menominee Reservation. When he moved back, he was employed at the tribal offices in the maintenance department.

Week was certainly one to remember
This past week has been so filled with comings and goings, that I didn’t know what to write about this week. After hearing about an accident due to the fact that someone was passing when they shouldn’t have, and the person driving the oncoming car was killed. I couldn’t help but think about all of the times I have had to avoid vehicles in similar situations. People seem to pass whenever they want, whether it is in a no passing zone or not.

Fair offers great time for whole family
A new Antique Tractor and Farm Equipment Show and a juggler will be the newest attractions at the Shawano County Fair this year, said Shawano Area Agricultural President Dale Hodkiewicz. The fair will take place Aug. 28 to Sept.

Recommendations made for SMC site
“Your aspirations are your possibilities.” — Dr. Samuel Johnson The Shawano Medical Center reuse task force met this week. Members who recently toured the facility were impressed with the overall condition of the building. They were surprised to learn it is larger in square footage than the local Walmart. The main entrance, which includes the atrium, waiting area, offices and public restrooms, was built in 2007.

Keshena man faces new abuse charge
A Keshena man who was convicted last year of sexually assaulting a child was indicted this week in federal court with sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl. Jacob J. Zhuckkahosee, 20, had sexual contact with the girl between June 15 and July 17 at a residence on the Menominee Indiana Reservation, according a criminal complaint filed Aug.

Revamped amusement park off and running
Steve Kastning hopes his revitalization of an old amusement park can help it live up to its name. Xceleration Amusement Park opened Friday and will be open until Oct. 30, before closing for the winter.
