Boys and Girls Club good fit for Shawano

To the editor: When you hear the term “positive change,” what comes to mind? Do you think of helping out your neighbor, making a financial donation to a nonprofit organization, or do you think of something bigger, something that you can really wrap your hands around? Up until recently when I thought of positive change, I felt that there is not much that I can do as an individual. However, I was wrong.

Pop goes the hose
With as many rainy days as we have had these past few weeks, I admit I was shocked when I went out into the back yard today. Some of the plants in the planters were starting to shrivel. Of course, all I would have had to do is wait a few hours, and the sky would have opened up and watered them for me. However, the hose was at the ready, so I turned on the faucet and began spray water into a planter.
Chores, heifers and pigs, oh my
One morning I walked into the barn and was met with instructions: “We’ll get that new heifer in after milking.” It wasn’t a question; it was a statement. I understand how his mind works. The unspoken part of those instructions told me when it was time to feed heifers, I needed to secure the headlocks in the locked position.

Shawano police and Shawano County sheriff’s deputies have already logged numerous fireworks complaints over the past week, in spite of the possibility of fines being levied for their use. Both the city and the county have fireworks ordinances on the books prohib

Memories made at the Speedway
A large part of what makes racing great are the memories made at the track. The moments might be on or off the track. People remember them for many reasons. For me, the ones that stand out involve friends and family. I remember the night that Craig Bartz won his first IMCA Modified feature at the track.
