Shawano County authorities were able to intervene in time to save an 82-year-old Birnamwood woman from a $50,000 scam Thursday. The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department reported the woman had been contacted by a man identifying himself as a law enforcement official from another state.

Bruce Wayne Beyer, 61, of Shawano, passed away Easter morning, April 5, 2015. He was born Oct. 31, 1953, in Appleton, to Arnold and Gladys (Wisniewski) Beyer. Shortly after graduating from Hortonville High School, Bruce served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a data programmer, from 1972-1974. Bruce was a skilled carpenter and worked in the construction trades most of his life.
