The Oconto Area Chamber of Commerce announced that Harvest Fest 2025 will return to downtown Oconto on Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with an exciting new boost — Nercon Conveyor Systems will serve as the presenting sponsor of this year’s event. A longtime leader in manufacturing and innovation with strong roots in the Oconto community, Nercon’s support marks a new chapter in the growth and evolution of Harvest Fest.

Changing Our Mental and Emotional Trajectory (COMET) is a two-hour program and a gentle introduction to supporting friends and neighbors in a vulnerable space. A live on-line COMET training will be offered statewide June 24 from 10 a.m. to noon. This training is offered live through the Zoom platform and is not recorded. The training is free but limited to 30 participants. Registration is required.

• Trisha Ann Cardish, pleaded no contest May 21 to misdemeanor charges of operating while revoked and violating an ignition interlock device order. A felony bail jumping count was dismissed in a plea agreement. Judge Michael Judge levied fines and court costs of $1,416.60. • Henry J. Mahers, 34, Pound, pleaded no contest May 22 to a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

May 22 Deputies responded to 50 incidents, including a noise disturbance on Harley Street in Lena, fraud on Arbutus Avenue in Oconto, sexual assault in the Town of Pensaukee, harassment on Harris Road in the Town of Breed; suspicious activity on Muehl Drive in Suring, on Jefferson Street in Oconto, and on North Chestnut Avenue in Oconto Falls; fraud on West Main Street in Lena, suspicious activity near U.S.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood School Board approved applications May 19 for 21 new students from outside the school district to come to local schools through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction open enrollment program. Currently, the district has 179 students coming into the district from other places in the state.

Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative (CWEC) has been awarded almost $1.3 million in grants as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, also known as the bipartisan infrastructure law. CWEC had originally applied for the grants in February 2024, and was previously notified that it would be awarded the two grants.
