In 2024, a sheriff’s deputy working for the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department was forced out for being lousy at his job. Even though the deputy, Cristian Morales, was flagged in the state’s negative separation database, he ended up being hired a few months later by the Menasha Police Department.

Unity, northeast Wisconsin’s first nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider, has partnered with Meadowbrook at Oconto Falls, to open a dedicated hospice wing.

The collaboration enables Unity and Meadowbrook to meet the growing demand for hospice care delivery.

The Friends of the Mountain-Bay State Trail – Shawano County will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the trail with a series of special events throughout 2026 highlighting the trail’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, outdoor recreation opportunities and community connections.

As part of the 30th Anniversary celebration of the Mountain-Bay State Trail, area residents and visitors are invited to experience a series of guided nature bathing along the trail walks led by outdoor enthusiast Nikole Koszarek.

Community members are invited to explore the healing plants growing along the Mountain-Bay State Trail during a Native American Plant Medicines Walk led by author and herbal educator Misty Cook from 6-7 p.m. June 30. A rain date is scheduled for July 1.
