The Bay Area Ice Bears girls hockey team improved to 5-0 with an 8-0 shutout over USM Wildcats on Dec. 6.

Addison Dahl and Hannah Von Haden each scored two goals, while Faye Brunke connected on one goal and had three assists.

Elizabeth Zunker started the scoring at 11:30 in the first period with assist from Dahl and Aisling Buchan.

Big games are nothing new to the Bonduel boys basketball team.

Nobody knows that more than Duke Copp, who coached the Bears to a spot in the WIAA Division 4 state championship game last season and a 50-44 win over Iola-Scandinavia Dec. 5 in the Central Wisconsin Conference-East opener for both teams.

Pulaski started to stretch its lead halfway through the first half and continued to roll in an 87-53 win at Shawano on Dec. 5.

By the time the halftime buzzer sounded, the Red Raiders led 39-18. A 48-35 second-half performance gave Pulaski the win.

Gavin Hundt scored five goals and Blake Swedberg had two as Shawano/Bonduel’s boys hockey team beat Manitowoc United 9-4 on Dec. 5.

The Hawks scored three times in each period with a total of 41 shots on goal. Manitowoc United had 28 shots on goal.

If things fall into place for the Shawano girls basketball team, the Hawks will be one of the favorites to win a Bay Conference championship.

Although it’s still early in the season, coach Ryan Koenig is convinced his team is headed in the right direction. The Hawks improved to 4-0 on Dec. 4 with a 58-27 nonconference win over Waupaca on the Comets’ home court.

Green Bay will travel to Denver for a game against the 11-2 Broncos at 3:25 p.m. Dec. 14.

The Packers have faced some good defenses this year, including their own in practice. There is a difference, however, between good and great.

The Green Bay Packers are into the middle of December and looking to win the NFC North and potentially find their way into the top seed in the NFC playoffs.

If they are going to do either of those things, they are certainly going to earn it. Sunday’s game is Denver is the second of five games in a row against teams fighting for playoff positioning.

Football season has nearly come and gone with the Green Bay Packers taking their journey into the middle of December.

They’re in the midst of a stretch where they will see the Chicago Bears twice in three weeks, with a date against the Denver Broncos sandwiched in between them.
