Sally Rae Felckowski, 62, of the town of Washington, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on Oct. 15, 1951, in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Dingeldein) Horn. Sally grew up in the Bonduel area. On Jan. 20, 1973, she was united in marriage to Gary Felckowski in Bonduel.

At 1:35 pm. Jan. 16, a pickup truck and a car driven by men from Gillett collided on Michael Circle at County Road HH in the town of Underhill. The driver of the pickup truck was backing from a driveway and didn’t see a car stopped at a mailbox. No injuries were reported. At 9:40 p.m. Jan. 24, a man from De Pere was driving a pickup truck towing a trailer on Nicolet Road in the town of Townsend.

Wisconsin’s public school open enrollment application period runs from Feb. 3 to April 30 for the 2014-15 school year, allowing parents an opportunity to send their children to any public school district in the state. Traditionally, children in Wisconsin are assigned to public school districts based on the location of their parents’ home.

Entry forms are due Feb. 1 for individuals interested in competing for the title of 2014 Oconto County Senior and Junior Fairest of the Fair. The contest will be held March 1 at Oconto Falls High School. Contestants are required to submit an entry form, sponsorship and essay by Feb. 1. For the first time, the Senior and Junior Fairest of the Fair contest will be combined.

Proceedings from Jan. 24 Sentencing was withheld for Roy R. O’Harrow, 19, Lena, charged with pointing a firearm at another and negligent handling of a weapon on Sept. 28 in the town of Little River. He was placed on probation 18 months, ordered to spend 15 days in jail, serve 60 hours of community service, pay $243 court costs and undergo any treatment ordered. James B.

The city of Gillett will be protected by four full-time police officers, at least for the remainder of 2014. With a 4-2 vote on Jan. 20, the City Council approved an 11-month contract for Karl Goerlinger, promoting him from part time to full time, effective Jan. 21. Goerlinger, a part-time officer since March 2013, replaced Ben Hicks, who resigned Dec.

JoAnn Miller, a high school science teacher at Oconto Falls High School, was named Wisconsin’s High School Teacher of the Year in September 2012. She served as Wisconsin’s representative to the National Teacher of the Year program, which included a teacher from each state and four U.S. territories. In a presentation to the Oconto Falls School Board on Jan. 13 and a follow-up interview, Miller told about her experience.

A 19-year-old Oconto Falls man lost control of his car after hitting an icy patch Jan. 8 on Maple Avenue. He was south of Sheridan Street when his vehicle went into the ditch and struck a tree. He was not injured. His vehicle required towing. A 29-year-old Oconto Falls man was cited for disorderly conduct Jan. 18 after having an argument with an individual at Main Street Pub, 172 N.

A Madison company is a front-runner in the county’s search for a firm to oversee the acquisition of 14 properties in the neighborhood of a proposed law enforcement center. The Oconto County Law Enforcement Committee on Jan. 16 interviewed two firms and recommended pursuing a contract with SRF Consulting of Madison. According to Oconto County Administrative Coordinator Kevin Hamann, an agreement is being drafted.
