Shawano Police Department Feb. 3 Police logged 24 incidents, including the following: Theft — A purse was reported stolen at Aldi’s, 1253 E. Green Bay St. Disturbance — Police responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of South Sawyer Street. Accident — Police responded to an injury accident in the 200 block of Waukechon Street after a vehicle rear-ended a legally parked semi, causing the vehicle’s airbag to deploy.
Oscar Schumann
Oscar Schumann, 83, of Shawano, passed away on Friday morning, Jan. 31, 2014, at ManorCare in Shawano. He was born on Feb. 26, 1930, in Chicago, the youngest child of Maria (Knapp) and Alvin Schumann, and the only natural born citizen of the immigrant Schumann family. Oscar grew up in the Chicago area, delivering newspapers and doing other odd jobs at a very early age to help prevent the deportation of the family during the Great Depression.
Albert C. Miller
Albert C. Miller, 81, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in an Arlington, Texas, hospital. Interment for Albert and Patricia Miller will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert’s memory may be made to the Mohican Veteran’s Association, P.O. Box 70, Bowler, WI 54416. Albert, known as Charlie growing up, was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Red Springs.
Occum B. Isham
Occum Brave Isham, 58, of Milwaukee, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, in Tennessee. Born on June 19, 1955, in Shawano, he was the son of Patricia D. Miller and the late Clarence Isham. Although Occum lived most of his life in the Milwaukee area, he last made his home in Puerto Rico, where he spent time enjoying the tropics.
Ilamae K. Buckoski
Ilamae K. Buckoski, 81, of Ashwaubenon and De Pere, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014. She was born on Sept. 17, 1932, to the late John and Emma (Viergutz) Kroll in the town of Herman, Shawano County. Ilamae graduated from Shawano High School in 1950. She married Eugene Buckoski on Oct. 27, 1951, in Leopolis. He preceded her in death on Jan.
Katheryn V. Schroeder
Katheryn V. “Kitty” Schroeder, 94, of Shawano, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in Shawano. Born on Aug. 14, 1919, in Kennett Square, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stuart and Edna (Ruoss) Battan. She graduated from Kennett Square Consolidated School in 1938 and went on to receive a degree as a dental hygienist from the University of Pennsylvania in 1939. She served her internship at Northwest Hospital.
Norman R. Zastrow Jr.
Norman R. Zastrow Jr., 68, of Bonduel, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in Shawano. Norman was born on June 13, 1945, to the late Norman and Margaret (Richter) Zastrow in Shawano. He graduated from Bonduel High School in 1963.
Margaret Hall Teller
Margaret Hall Teller died at 91 years old on Feb. 2, 2014, in Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh John Teller. Both were formerly from South Branch. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2014 in South Branch.
Gerald Lemke
Gerald “Jerry” Lemke, 68, of Rib Mountain, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Mount View Care Center in Wausau. He was born Dec. 14, 1945, in New London to the late Louis and Lucille (Prellwitz) Lemke and graduated in 1964 from Shawano High School. Jerry was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. On Aug. 11, 1984, Jerry married Shirley Cook at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Robert J. Brede
Robert J. Brede, 70, formerly of Cecil, passed away on Dec. 26, 2013, in Shawano. Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil assisted the family.
