After he parked in a neighbor’s drive, he walked to his house in snow up to his (bleep) to get to his front door.

Panthers defeat Marinette The Oconto Falls High School boys basketball team won 59-49 over Marinette in a Bay Conference game Friday in Oconto Falls. James Salscheider led Oconto Falls (2-12, 2-9 Bay) with 13 points.

The Finnegan Lake Walleye Club will hold its annual fishing derby Saturday, Feb. 22. The club will register fish from area lakes at derby headquarters in the heated beer stand at Zippel Park in Gillett. Prizes will be awarded for the largest northern, walleye, bass, crappie, perch and bluegill.

The Oconto Falls High School girls basketball team swamped Bay Conference foe Marinette 76-44 Friday in Marinette. The Panthers (10-1, 6-1 Bay) led 13-10 after the first quarter and rolled to a 34-20 halftime lead. They outscored the Marines 24-8 in the third quarter. “Marinette played very well in the first quarter,” Oconto Falls coach Mike Kaczmarek said. “Marinette came out with some intensity we didn’t match.

Dewey Krueger earned a championship, and the Oconto Falls High School wrestling team finished 10th Saturday at the Pulaski Invitational. Oconto Falls scored 81 points.

Irene B. (Buss) Baker, 80, of Milwaukee, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2014. She was born on Aug. 4, 1933, in Shawano County, the daughter of the late Alexander and Helen (Kleckner) Buss. Irene graduated from Gresham High School, Class of 1951. On Jan. 20, 1962, she married her husband of 52 years, Edward Baker. Irene enjoyed traveling with Eddie, playing cards and games, and reading books. She loved and cherished her family very much.
