Dennis Thomas “Buzz” Gerches, 69, of Shawano, formerly of Illinois, died on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in Appleton. Born on May 1, 1944, in Cicero, Ill., he is the son of the late Paul and Julia (Gudaidis) Gerches. Dennis was united in marriage to Jewel Reichelt on Oct. 7, 1991, in Joliet, Ill. Dennis and Jewel often spent time in the Shawano area.

Shirley Ann Treptow, 78, passed away Feb. 27, 2014, at Bay Area Medical Center. Born Aug. 1, 1935, in Marinette to the late Edwin and Gladys (Steer) Behrend, she graduated from Marinette High School in 1954. Shirley was employed as a secretary at the Prescott-Sterling Co. in Menominee, Mich., until her marriage to Kenneth Treptow on Dec. 1, 1956, at which time she farmed together with her husband for 50 years before retiring.

Joan R. Maryniak (nee Trenhaile), 78, of Gresham, died on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Marshfield. Born on Dec. 17, 1935, in Bensenville, Ill., she was the daughter of Fred and Dorothy (Guilford) Trenhaile. On July 17, 1954, Joan was united in marriage to Edward Maryniak. The couple ran an archery store in the Chicago area and moved to the Shawano area in 1975. Ed preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1990.
