Alice Pauline McFarland Weigle, 93, of Rosebrook Road, Shawano, completed her transition from this life on Dec. 15, 2013. She passed, with the assistance of Mount Evans Hospice, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, William R.

Sandra Jean Besaw, beloved wife and mother, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Terry; daughters, Deb (Al) and Kim (Jim); four siblings and two sister-in-laws; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets. She will be greatly missed by all. Ethel Ruth Dorn, 93, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in Neenah. Born on Jan. 9, 1921, in Clintonville, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Bahrke) Elbe. On June 5, 1942, Ethel was united in marriage to Raymond H. Dorn in Tacoma, Wash. After marriage the couple made their home Geneseo, Ill., and Wausau before moving to Shawano in 1972.

Stephanie A. (Perez) Peters, Kepayos, 44, of Keshena, unexpectedly started her journey to the spirit world on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Stephanie was born on April 14, 1969, in Chicago to Myrna Peters and Marshall Warrington. She attended Menominee schools and graduated from Menominee Indian High School in 1988. She attended the College of Menominee Nation and was a certified health aide.

Hillcrest Primary School On March 20, a local author will spend the day with the kids at Hillcrest/LEADS Primary School. Marla McKenna published a book called “Mom’s Big Catch.” It is a book about the day Marla took her family to a baseball game and a baseball actually landed right inside her purse! She will be encouraging the students to never give up on their dreams, focus on the power of reading and share her journey of becoming an author.

Blair and Kathy Sawall were named the 2014 Farm Family of the Year at the Clintonville Rotary Club’s annual Farm Appreciation Luncheon held Monday at Clintonville Lanes and Banquet Hall. The winners were announced by Wisconsin Secretary of Agriculture Ben Brancel. The Sawalls started farming in 1987 with five cows.
