There’s a very common tendency among people to take pride in any person from our community who “makes it big” in the world. If a local kid creates a new invention or strikes it rich in show business or the world of politics, whatever, we take pride in their accomplishments. It really doesn’t even have to be just our community, it can be anyone from Wisconsin.

Defense and McKenna Larsen led the Oconto Falls High School girls basketball team to a 44-25 victory over Peshtigo to win the WIAA Division 3 regional championship Saturday in Oconto Falls. The top-seeded Panthers (20-3, 13-3 Bay) raced to an 18-8 lead in the first quarter thanks to Larsen, a 5-foot-7 senior guard who scored 12 of her game-high 19 points in the period. Eight OFHS athletes earn Bay Conference honors
McKenna Larsen has been named girls basketball Player of the Year in the Bay Conference. She and seven other Oconto Falls High School athletes received all-conference honors for the winter sports season. Larsen, a 5-foot-7 senior guard, was named first-team, all-conference. She led the Bay in scoring this season with 293 points and a 18.3 points per game average. She also led the Bay in assists (82) and steals (63).
Larsen resigns as softball coach
Citing a need to spend more time with her family, Dawn Larsen has resigned as head softball coach at Oconto Falls High School.
Oconto County Sheriff’s Department
At 6:05 p.m. March 6 in the town of Abrams, a vehicle driven by a man from Abrams was backing from a driveway on Oak Orchard Road and struck a vehicle operated by a man from Oconto Falls who was stopped in traffic at the end of a driveway opposite the first driveway. The Abrams vehicle sustained minor damage; the Oconto Falls vehicle, moderate damage. Neither driver nor a female passenger from Abrams in the first vehicle was injured.

Proceedings from March 7 A continued initial appearance was held for James E. McDonald on a charge of strangulation and suffocation, which allegedly occurred Sept. 8 in Oconto Falls. He is also charged with physical abuse of a child-intentionally cause bodily harm, attempted strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim, which allegedly occurred Feb. 13 in Oconto Falls. Cash bonds of $500 and $20,000 continue.
