Jennifer Dowden’s 19 points weren’t enough Thursday as the Bonduel High School girls basketball team lost 48-39 to Auburndale in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal at Wausau West High School. Auburndale scored the first six points on its way to a 13-3 first quarter lead.

Shawano Masonic Lodge to host Shriner ceremony
The Shawano Masonic Lodge has been chosen to host installation ceremonies of new Shriners from around northeast Wisconsin later this month, and a community parade along Main Street will mark the occasion. County wage study adoption delayed
Shawano County will not approve a wage study this month as originally planned. Representatives from Madison-based Carlson Dettmann Consulting LLC gave the Administrative Committee and department heads draft recommendations of pay levels for all positions during two meetings Thursday.

A funeral Mass for Carol will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Dorothy Schreiber
Dorothy Schreiber, 103, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, at a local nursing home. Born on Nov. 26, 1910, in the town of Red Springs, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Florence (Welch) Bruette. On March 9, 1930, Dorothy was united in marriage to Martin Schreiber in Milwaukee. After marriage the couple made their home in the Milwaukee area, where Dorothy worked at A & A Manufacturing in West Allis.
Carol E. Hensel
Carol E. Hensel, 71, of Shawano, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at a Green Bay hospital. She was born Feb. 17, 1943, in East Bridgewater, Mass., to William “Bill” and Alice (Kelly) Chuckran. Carol graduated from East Bridgewater High School, Class of 1961. On May 28, 1966, she married Henry Hensel at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Green Bay. Carol was a past member of St. Joseph Parish.
Delores D. Bucholtz
Delores Dorothy Bucholtz, 85, of Gresham, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in Shawano. Born on April 17, 1928, in the town of Red Springs, she was the daughter of the late Jule and Meta (Duwe) Petrich. On Feb. 22, 1947, Delores was united in marriage to Lloyd Bucholtz in the town of Red Springs. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 2008. Delores lived in Shawano County most of her life.
Janice E. Jones
Janice E. Jones, 81, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at a local nursing home surrounded by her family. Born on May 11, 1932 in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late George and Marie (Giesel) Schwietzer. On July 14, 1951, Janice was united in marriage to Howard Jones at the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.
