Pulaski biathlete serving as Ohana ambassador

DNR seeks ethical hunter nominations

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is accepting award nominations for the 2025 Wisconsin Ethical Hunter Award. Nominees are selected based on exceptional moral actions and character while out in the field.

Established in 1997, the award recognizes a hunter whose action is symbolic of Wisconsin’s hunting heritage. This honor represents an outdoor tradition enjoyed responsibly, respectfully and safely.

Bonduel athletes sign on to D1 schools

With one more full semester of high school in front of them, a pair of Bonduel High School athletes are looking ahead to fall 2026 when they will attend Division 1 colleges for their education and sports.

Mariah Wondra and Ryan Westrich signed their letters of intent Dec. 11 at the school. Wondra will attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Westrich will be at Western Michigan University.

Gillett boys come from behind to beat Lena

Lena led 20-16 at the half, but Gillett surged in the second half.

Lena girls beat Suring

Lena used a strong second-half performance to run away with a 68-45 win over Suring.

Freshman Ella Thomson scored 14 points to lead the Wildcats. Senior Madilyn Thomson added 12, and freshman Alisa Finger contributed another 10.

Antigo hockey team beats Rhinelander

The Red Robins co-op boys hockey team beat the winless Hodags 6-2 at the Langlade County Multi-Purpose Building.

Antigo is 5-2 (2-1 in the Great Northern Conference), while Rhinelander is 0-7 (0-4).
