Karla M. Criscione

Karla Mae Criscione, 49, of Shawano, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at a local nursing home. Born on Aug. 16, 1963, in Shawano, she was the daughter of Audrey (Schreiber) Criscione and the late Sylvester Criscione. Karla was a member of the Red River Riders and the Packer Jets Bowling Team. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith.
Yarie logs Modified, Australian Pursuit wins
The first Saturday of August proved to be a beautiful night for racing at the Shawano Speedway. The IMCA Modified was the first of five feature races. John Peters used a front row starting spot to his advantage to jump out to the early lead. Peters led the way for several laps as Eric Scribner, Marcus Yarie, Jason Czarapata and Jared Siefert battled behind him.
Elder R. Koeller
Elder Robert Koeller, 87, was called home to glory on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay surrounded by his family. Elder was born Oct. 6, 1927, to Arnold and Martha (Schwenke) Koeller in the town of Larabee in Waupaca County. He was baptized into his heavenly family on Oct. 30, 1927. Elder was raised on the family farm in rural Clintonville and graduated from Clintonville High School.

Esther A. Safford
Esther A. Safford, of the town of Wescott, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at the age of 91. Esther was born on Sept. 22, 1921, in Oconto Falls, the oldest of four children born to Wm. J. Kallies and Augusta Redmann. She is preceded in death by one sister, Bertha Kallies, who died at two months, and by her two brothers, August and Albert Kallies.
Jo Ann Louise Teaford
Jo Ann Louise (Jo) Teaford, 66, of North Port, Fla., passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013. She was born in Two Rivers on Oct. 19, 1946, to the late Raymond and Alvilda (O’Malley) Bertler and grew up in Manitowoc. Jo attended Holy Family College, graduating in 1968 with an undergraduate degree in home economics and then attended Ohio University, graduating in 1983 with a master’s degree in home economics.

The Shawano Salvation Army is in desperate need of funds to help area residents. President Stacey Cicero said the charity usually runs out of money after about 11 months of the fiscal year, but this year it ran out in nine months. “We’re out of money and it went really quick this year,” Cicero said. The group’s fiscal year is from Oct. 1 to Sept.
