Hilda N. Heimerman, 84, Mountain, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013. Hilda was born Jan. 3, 1929, to the late Gerhard and Leola (Lyons) Stuewer. Hilda Stuewer married Dalton P. Heimerman on Sept. 24, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes. For the last 26 years the couple enjoyed their retirement in the Mountain area. Hilda enjoyed gardening, canning, puzzles, reading, fishing, snowmobiling and especially being outdoors.

A federal judge has postponed a Suring man’s sentencing so he can testify against his co-defendants who face arson charges in state and federal courts. Drew S. Christensen, 28, was to be sentenced Monday before District Judge William Griesbach. Christensen had pleaded guilty in May to setting fire to the Klondike Community Church, a resort bar in Mountain and a town of Bagley tavern.

Five months after losing its agriculture agent, Oconto County is close to hiring a replacement. Two finalists were interviewed Monday by the Extension Education Committee of the County Board, after advancing from an initial interview conducted by University of Wisconsin-Extension personnel. According to Guy Gooding, committee chair, both candidates were well-qualified and would be a good fit for the county.
