Lois Dorothy (Passuello) Blank, 86, formerly of Birnamwood, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Owosso, Michigan, in her beautiful apartment at Oliver Woods Assisted Living Facility. Her family and beloved cats, Kitty-Kitty and Squirt, were at her bedside before her passing. Lois was born in Birnamwood on June 19, 1937, the daughter of Victor and Leona Sophie (Kelm) Passuello. She graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1955.

Heart of the Valley Metro Championship Aug. 19 Shawano golfers placed third out of 18 teams at the Hearth of the Valley Championship at High Cliff Golf Course on Aug. 19. The Hawks scored 165 and tied Appleton North and Kaukauna 2. Kaukauna 1 won with a 147, followed by Kimberly 1 with a 164. Sophia Eggert and Lily Glysch won in a playoff to take third as a team in a three team-two person scramble/best ball.

Bay Conference Meet #2 Aug. 20 Sophia Eggert was the medalist with a score of 37 as Shawano golfers took first place at Vernon Hills Golf Course in Oconto. The Hawks scored 180, followed by Seymour with 183.

Pulaski’s girls tennis team easily defeated its three opponents Aug. 19 at Appleton West. The Red Raiders downed the host school 6-1 and then shut out Appleton East and Kaukauna by 7-0 scores. Pulaski 6, Appleton West 1 Against Appleton West, Pulaski won three of the four singles matches. Ruth Krause, at No. 1, won 6-1,6-1; No. 2 Aubrie Schluessler won 6-4, 6-1; and No.
