Paul Steven Hudson, 43, of the town of Wescott, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014. Born on July 10, 1971, in Kenosha, he was the son of Alice (Lambrecht) Hudson and the late Gordon Hudson. Paul worked for a moving company for many years. When not at work, he enjoyed fishing, making bird houses and repairing small engines for his friends.

The Lake Country Republican Women have a sweet idea for helping veterans. The organization has been baking pies and other desserts for its annual auction for a decade, and there will be almost 30 items up for bids at this year’s event. The pie auction, which will air on WTCH from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students from Shawano’s Sacred Heart Catholic School not only witnessed one of nature’s miracles during the sturgeon run at Sturgeon Park on Tuesday, but also utilized it as a learning experience. City officials Wednesday approved a $10,000 contract with a consulting firm to study the feasibility of expanding the Shawano landfill. The Common Council unanimously approved Foth Infrastructure and Environment LLC for the work.

The weather has been rough on most of the spring sports, but it has possibly been toughest on boys tennis. The Shawano Community High School team played only two of its seven matches scheduled in April. “You start at the end of March and go a whole month and we only played twice,” Shawano coach Tom Webster said. “That’s been really tough psychologically.
