William M. Pyawasay Sr., 89, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in Keshena. William was born in Keshena on Nov. 27, 1924, to the late Mitchell and Pauline (LaFrambois) Pyawasay. William enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II on the U.S.S Harrison. William was united in marriage to Jacqualine M. Menore on June 13, 1946.

Cecil residents opted to maintain their post office with reduced hours after a community survey was tallied at Village Hall on Thursday. Of the 397 U.S. Postal Service surveys that were returned, 83 percent were in favor of realigning hours. “Based on that 83 percent, that is what (Cecil) is going to do,” Postal Service spokesman Sean Hargadon said.

The Mobile Vet Center of Green Bay rolled into the Shawano Walmart parking lot Tuesday as part of a nationwide initiative to reach veterans in every county and territory of the U.S. Counselor Jim Harsh said the Mobile Center has already visited half of Wisconsin’s 72 counties since the yearlong campaign began in March. “The primary way we have been successful is through word-of-mouth,” Harsh said.
